Bye George

I woke up this morning to my IPod playing a George Carlin bit about “Airline Announcements.”  I thought it was a normal Monday.  When I switched to the radio I was informed that George died last night at age 71.  I shouldn’t be surprised do to the massive amounts of drugs he did in the 60’s and 70’s.  But it’s still a sad day for me.  I have all the cd’s, both books, and got the pleasure of seeing not only his HBO specials but also in person twice.  I also respected the man for how he handled his wife’s death, the love of his life , Brenda in 1997. I know that his family and friends will miss him.  Some knew him for his early work with Jack Burns. Some for “the seven words you can’t say on television.”  Still a younger generation saw him as Mr. Conductor from that train show for kids.  I will remember him as a unique perspective on the English language and he observations of the human condition.   Bye George, you will be missed.

Thomas loyal to the End

Zach Thomas’ agent said that the former Dolphin Pro Bowler turned down New England because he knew how the Dolphins fan would have taken it .

“Dallas was a very good fit for him because, like New England, they’re a winning team,” Drew Rosenhaus told 560-AM (WQAM) Tuesday morning. “They’re in his home state, close to his family, and he grew up as a Cowboys fan. But also being a loyal Dolphin, and he’ll always be a Dolphin, it would have been very difficult for him [to play for New England]. He did not want to alienate his fans, and really, I don’t think, he wanted to compete against the Dolphins.”

Birth of the Blue Indian

So Blue Indian Dogma huh? I know most will look at this and say, “What?”

There’s a simple reason why I chose to name my blog this. Dumb luck. You see I am an avid hockey fan. The two teams that I cheer for are the Chicago Blackhawks (since 1991) and the Toronto Maple Leafs ( since 2002). I am also a fan of Widespread Panic. They have a song named “Blue Indian” and I thought it was a good mix considering the Blackhawks logo is an indian and the Maple Leafs colors are blue and white. I know its not that clever but I thought it was, so I went with it. I have added Dogma because I found a definition that I believe will truly fit this site.

dog - ma : “a point of view or tenet put forth as authoritative without adequate grounds”

I hope to have various posts soon about all walks of life.
